Minimag valves

Couple questions for you walking dictionaries.

1. Why do minimag valves always have more stars than regular mag valves? Minimags seem to have four max, whereas mag valves seem to have had only three max, and then down to one.

Why the favoritism?

2. Did the minimag valves go through variations of the same sort as the (classic) automag? I.e., first run was sandblast finish, no stars, then machine finished, no stars, then three stars, meanwhile, all saying A.I.R. Valve, followed by the switch to 'Classic,' with one star.

That, I believe, is the trajectory of the regular AM valves. Correct me if I've missed something.

Is it same for MM? Later models have fewer stars (but still more than the classic AM)?

Is there a 'Classic' minimag, or do all say A.I.R.?

3. Were there ever reverse valves made for the regular AM as there were for the MM?

Thanks as always.

yes they did make reverse styles of all the valves, and the starts were for services on the valves from AGD the number of stars ment thats how many free services that the valve was eligable for from AGD when they were still doing the star service program back in the day.

Thanks for that.

As for the stars, I'm aware of the service program, but to the best of my knowledge the MMs had a one star advantage over the AMs.

The question, among the others, is why?

And what other variations in the MM?

I would guess that about the time that the star program started that the Minimag was the "new" mag and so got more stars than the "old" valves.

That's just a guess though.

You charged less for a Classic Mag, even though it's the same valve. They introduce the Stars to show value between the minimag/classic, beyond the body.
