modding sears

Has anyone pop riveted and then bored out a classic sear to make it an RT pro sear?

any other ways to skin this fish without buying a 30 dollar sear?

It looks like its a press fit brass insert.

Wonder if you could pick up any correct sized bearings at say the local lowes or something...

Just out of curiosity, why is the R/T sear riveted?

Increased force on the sear, maybe?

With the same level of oil, the wider bearing should have a larger contact surface and maintain a better layer of oil to run on. It is a better and more complicated pivot design. I run an RT setup with a classic rail and sear without a problem, but I do like the bushing and screw in pin.

You might find a little bearing in a CD or disk drive that would fit, maybe with a sleeve.

Do you know the larger OD of that bushing? Seems like a reasonable idea.

i gather its easier to run square in the slot with the wider bearing surface.

the classic sear runs in a narrow slot on a wider pin

there must have been to much drag with the classic sear running in the narrow slot,
so agd made the slot wider and then needed to keep the sear running square, so they added the bushing to the sear.

i just picked up a 2009 ptp mag and it came with a classic sear installed

there is no way that will work with an RT pin, theres way too much slop

well, drilling an aluminum pop rivet out or a brass rod insert will be easy,
but that is not a roller bearing.

I'm going to gut my tac1 longbow and examine the sear and bearing

It's basically just a sleeve/bushing, nothing rolling about it.
