Classic Valve, volume chamber?

So Im tearing apart my Classic valve, and I never knew the power tube came off of the valve. When I realized this, I screwed it off just out of curiosity, and realized theres a volume chamber. Now my question is, is this chamber supposed to be empty, or is my valve missing a part?

Empty but you can add to it. You'll need more pressure to get the marker to your desired FPS if you put something in. Be very careful with the oring inside there. You'll be calling Tuna for a new one.

What could I put in there? Also, which o-ring? The red one on the threads of the powertube?

Yes, the red one.

Washers, plastic or nylon.

Why would I put washers in the volume chamber?

For normal operation...There's no need but if converting to a pump mag on 12 grams, you can get a good 10-15 more shot off of one. Less volume in the chamber means less air being used but you'll need to bump the velocity/pressure to sustain your FPS.

It'll give you better efficiency on air, too.

3/8" nylon, turned down a little are good. Flyingpootang has some good pics here...

Attempted efficiency mod on a mag

Production dump chambers are made for a wide variety of weather, efficiency, and paint. Squeezing them down usually makes the marker more efficient at the price of higher ball (and maybe LPR [matrix]) pressures. I also hit the same condition FP did with the de-volumized classic mag not being able to make good velocity with HPA.
