Pump rod - RT-length

Anyone know the easiest way to make or otherwise acquire a pump rod that's longer than the "normal" AM/MM kind? I need it for my uncut pump-Tac which is on a RT-Pro rail. I'm using a Cerberus pump kit that I bought used. Help!

coat hanger

Coat hanger won't work unless you find one small (diameter) enough.

I've used the steel welding rods with good success, you just have to bust the coating off of it with a hammer. It comes off really easy. Also if you head over to your local hobby shop. They should have thin rods in SS, AL, and Brass. I've pretty much replaced all my rods with brass ones. The shop by mehave 3/16 rods that work perfectly. They're a hair smaller then what the stock rod is but works just as good and brass won't mess up your bolt like the steel ones do.

The stock rod is 5 1/4" long so I'd say about another inch and 1/4 would do it.

Thanks for the tip Ando, I'll look into that. The 90* bend at the handle-end should be easy enough. Any tips on how to get the flare on the bolt-end bent correctly?

I picked up a 3/16" brass rod today, and it looks significantly thicker than the steel pump rod that came with the kit. Are you sure it wasn't 1/8" brass rod that you have been using?

Do any cads exist for pump rods?

I'm in Nabraska ATM. I'm sure it was a 3/16 rod....or maybe a 3 /32.

Hmm...I'll be home Sunday. If it doesn't fit down the hole of the pump handle the it's too big.

Luke's got my rail and body for the pump milling at the moment, so I can't check. 3/32" might be right. I picked up the 3/16" at my local Rural King and they had a 1/8" rod as well that looked more like the correct size in hindsight. It was kind of bent slightly in a couple places, so I was wary of getting it, but it was the last one they had too. I'm sure if it's the right size I could make it work though.

I know for a fact the 1/8 is too large.
