Ever have trouble with the quad on/off o-rings?

I was playing with my EP mag last weekend and the on/off hung up on me. The quad o-ring was mashed up. I thought "no problem, I bought spares". I pulled one from the pill bottle I had stored it in and put it in. Fired up and ready to go. Step on the field, and it dies. Same problem. All of them have lost their elasticity and my last one is even a little sticky. These have been in my possession for four years, and the one was fine for about 20,000 cycles in that time. It's like I hit the end of shelf life on these in a big way.

Anyone else notice that problem?

Its a common problem. They can be troublesome in the cold of the winter when the on/off pins will stick to them.

Poo. I'm used to urethane and teflon (little leaks).

I remember that TK said the quads didn't last as long, but I was hoping the shelf life wasn't such a big part of that.

FYI, you can order a 100 pack of quad o-rings on McMaster for dirt cheap.

Yeah but then what happens is they go bad laying around on the shelf.

Yeah, but the normal shelf-life of a buna-n o-ring is 5 to 15 years, depending on which industry standard report you look at.

Yeah, I'm thinking mine were a year or two old when I got them (at least). I also thought about the viton ones that are in a box of 50 and 75 duro, but it's the same problem. Does anyone ship with "born on" dates on their o-rings?
