MicroMag threading question.

I recently restored a Micromag and bought a TechT iFit kit in Cocker threading for it. Unfortunately the adaptor for the system doesn't seem to want to screw all the way in. It screws in about half way then stops. It works fine on my Cocker pump and my twist lock adaptor for my MiniMag and Classic mag....

TechT tech support wasn't very helpful. I called it a promag when I emailed them and the response was "Don't shoot a Promag."

I also have a Cocker to Hammerhead adaptor for it that works fine, so I am stumped.

Not all cocker threaded barrels/markers are one in the same. I have some barrels that won't thread into certain markers of mine. The tolerances are pretty tight on the Micromag, so you will occasionally come across a barrel that does not fit well.

have it chased with a cocker barrel tap (15/16-20). The threads are almost definately too shallow. I have done it a few times. I had one come in that had the threads turned off the barrel (!?!?!?) from the factory. There were 2 threads left on the barrel just to get it to fit.

Dukie, I'm not that tech savy...so what now? Where does one find a barrel tap? Is it something I could do with out a set up? So run the tap down the front of the MicroMag?

airsoldier sells them. you can also find them at harbour freight and such. You can do it with a bench vice and a wrench. It doesn't take much to just chase the threads.

yes run the tap into the front of the micro mag.

Not too hard honestly. I had the same problem with my MM2k9 and an iFit kit. Just go slow and be careful and you'll be fine.

Keep in mind that the tap will take the ano off of the threads that you are chasing. If you have worked the ano off of your barrel threads, be careful of binding between the barrel and the body. Use some of that hammerhead grease on the barrel threads or don't store the marker with the barrel on for long periods. Once lubed it shouldn't be a problem; it's just that clean bare aluminum tightened together and left for "later" can be a problem.
