Keep in mind that you will have to harden anything you intend to use as a sear or you will be making a new one in short order. On the same note, it can be quite difficult to do anything other then grind the original if you intend to modify it.

wont be difficult at all if it's annealed first.
my back ground is in General Machining,
so this will actually be the easier part of the build for me.

it's the wood working and electronics that I'm not that well versed in.
oh sure framing and stuff like that is no problem for me,
but fine finish wood carving;
I haven't done a lot so I'm moving forward very cautiously.
don't want to go ruining a good stock by rushing the job.
because of the holiday weekend I'll bet the order for the stock hasn't even been processed yet.
