How many were made?

Hey guys been doin some research for a while and can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking.for. So I was looking for a classic rt and while I was shopping around I noticed all I was seeing was the Chrome body, black body, or some variant of the smear anodizing. I finally picked up a Craigslist treasure for dirt cheap and it was a grey body with black accents so my question is are these very common? And if so about how many made? Thanks for your time expertise and input.

I've never seen an RT Classic with a factory done grey body. Maybe a custom powdercoat job by the previous owner?

Put a pic up.

I remember seeing one in the old paintball shop I used to visit. Which leads me to think its a production item, maybe early production. Whats the SN on the valve? It might get you a idea on when it was made..... ish, depending if hasn't been replaced.

Most of the RT's I have seen are polished or teflon coated black. This looks like a raw/bead blasted body. Not sure how "rare" they are, but you could easily get the same effect with any body by media blasting it, which would make it not so rare.

FTR, the bodies that you see that appear "chrome" are not. They are simply SS bodies that have been highly polished. Chroming SS would be like spray painting aluminum instead of anodizing it.

I seem to remember seeing them around 1997 in various magazines with the grey non-polished bodies.

Except that it wasn't ever 'standard' on the classic RT, teflon black and polished was. I wouldn't actually pay more money for this versus another standard black or polished one, but it is neat if its factory.

Thanks for the responses fellas I will try to post the SN tonight or is there somewhere I can go to verify AGD serial numbers ? From the replies so far sounds like I got a unique piece.
