Robertsr asked me for some info on the history of the PTP Micromag so that folks can more readily tell one generation from the next and the age of their MicroMag. After a quick review with Tracy at PTP, here is what we have: Until the introduction of the WarpFeed and the E-Mag Micro, there was no formal "naming" of the versions of the gun. Internally we referred to Gen I (generation 1) or fixed-barrel Micro, or one-hole Micro, all referring to various features, but not a fixed set, as things often changed incrementally (no formal specs moving from one generation to the next). This changed with the last two generations as there was a planned progression. So, the first three generations may actually have had partial changes incorporated to them along the way, and a particular gun might actually be a Gen 2.5 - and there's no way to say for sure, but you can definately say it is within Generation 2, or 1 or 3. Actual dates for the introduction of a generation are also a little plastic, as there is creation of the proto, first production run, advertising exposure, etc. So, here we go: Late 1992/early 1993: Generation 1 Micromag. This was made as an aftermarket kit and consisted of a body in gray ano with the following identifying features: A. Fixed shorty barrel B. Squared off upper body C. Single screw retaining the powerfeed D. Bolt on plastic ball detent This may also have been supplied with a Benchmark single trigger frame towards the end of the run Late 1994/early 1995: Generation 2 Micromag A. Cocker Threaded barrel B. Squared off upper body C. Single screw retaining the powerfeed D. Bolt on Plastic ball detent Gen 2.5 A wide variety of ano colors and "film" camo patterns 1996-1997: Generation 3 Micromag A. 2 screws retaining the powerfeed B. Integrated ball detent C. Upper body valve receiver has a tail (no longer squared off Gen 3.5 3 and 4 color ano patterns 1999: Generation 4 Micromag A. Fixed vertical feed port B. New body styling (holes through the site rail portion of the upper body) 2000-2001: Generation 5 Micromag A. Threaded vertical feed port Gen 5.5 A. E-Mag Micro Grip frame B. Integrated collet system Three colors available - flat black, shiny black, nickel *** In-house ano patterns: real tree 'film' carbon 'film' (black and gray grid pattern) red, mustard yellow, black, gray, blue, green, purple, nickel, red nights (black & red) blue nights (blue and black) purple nights (purple and black) cool cammo (black, gold, green, blue, silver) tropical nights (black and blue to purple speckle fade) tropical sunset (black and yellow to blue speckel fade) alien (purple to green brush fade), satin iguana (black and green, flat), gold plated, ultra nickel (high polish nickel), and a few others I can't remember right now. Accessories: Single trigger frame Double trigger frame Medusa frame blade trigger vertical adapter bottomline mini forgrip foregrip gas-thru mini-foregrip gas-thru foregrip armson barrels (pro-series, stealth, SSR, 6, 8, 10, 13 and 16 inch lengths) Benchmark 'Twister" barrels and others I'm probably forgetting |

Just going through old information and came across this old gem. I was able to convince my friend he has a Gen3 instead of a Gen4. Also used this thread to figure out what a Micromag 2000 was. This should be stickied! Awesome info.
