Old style classic sears

Does anyone know when AGD switched from the older, beefier sears (as seen in the AGD video) to the newer-style classic sears? The older ones had a lot of extra unnecessary metal that was removed in the newer style classic sears.

I know they came in the L6s, but wasn't sure if they made the switch when they went to the L7.

Just a curiosity.

Thanks very kindly as always.

At least I got one of the newer style sears in my smartmag back in the 95-96, that was L7.

I think it came when the Minimag did. I got a very early one and it was equipped with the diet sear not the big wedge.

Did the older style sears ever bind up on any aftermarket trigger frames? With that big extra wedge in front, it seems like it might have been a possibility.

I still have my first sear because I bought an x-valve new and it came with the diet sear. When the factory upgraded it to level 7, they left the fat sear in. That was either late '92 or early '93. I haven't tried an aftermarket frame with it.

To be clear, I only mentioned the x- valve as the reason for still owning my original sear. The level 7 upgrade was on the original classic mag.

Hmn . . .

So perhaps the leaner sear came with the L7?

All of them, I wonder? Or perhaps phased it in early on?

Most interesting.
