First Mag Upgrades

After all these years, I've finally gotten around to picking up an Automag off B/S/T to add to my arsenal. I'm going to be using it as a backup to my Bob Long Signature Series or whenever the mood strikes me. My daughter will also be using it whenever we play together for the first time (starting her off right ). I'd like to install a foregrip on it but I see that the rail will need to be drilled out first. My question is, how easy is it to install a foregrip on these old guys? Also, what's the best choice for a Mag like this? I see a few are still kicking around from Lapco. What do you guys think? I'm not looking to go crazy yet with new bodies, RT valves, or L10 bolts. Just nice and simple like you see here for the most part. Thanks.

Its been a few yearssince I've done one but if i recall correctly, there should be a area on the front of the rail already milled out to indicate where to drill, it should look like a counter sink (because that's what it will be). If I'm off on that, someone please chime in to correct me.
After you drill it out to the size appropriate for the mounting bolt, all you do is attache the handle. I'm a big fan of the ones that had a little removable barrel plug in the end, if only for aesthetics. VASAs are also a popular choice and gives the opportunity for a reg/expansion chamber/ vertical bottle or whatever you'd like to mount on it. Those are fairly cheap and common as well.
If I can dig up a photo of my old mag I'll show you an example.

There exists few things that you can break short of total destruction that I cannot repair

Yeah, the VASA just has a lot of options. The AGD bike grip is a bit ugly, but it is that much more comfortable. Gutted (or not) regs work. Luke has some aluminum integrated front grips. Or make something you like and bolt it on. Need4reebs has a big alien claw (sorry, the whole three-way computer space game escapes me atm. grrr.). BTautomag that has welded chain links on his.

Or take something like self-defence's cram and jam and stick it on there...

Homemade Cram n' jam

We were discussing all the things you could do with bamboo the other day. A bamboo cover for the AGD bike grip would be relatively easy.

Yeah, we have fore grips.

Let me look through my box of 10,000 parts. I'm sure I got what you need. BTW the foregrip screw is a 1/4-20 shallow head 1/8 " allen screw. so drill out the recess to take a 1/4 ' screw. I'll get back to ya.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical,
Liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

My opinion? Vasa, Foregrip of your choice...

A billion on here that can be had for a song...

Personally I'm not a fan of the panel grips, the AGD rubbers are great things.

Old School Revy...

And then leave it alone...Classics don't need much...

I'm sure there are some level 10 users who will disagree...personally Id rather save the cash and buy another 2 cases of paint....

I Have messed with the X valve, RT, level 10, ULT on/offs, all that crap and I would choose the marker you have posted over all that stuff...

To each his own I guess, the important thing is that you have a mag...

That's exactly my plan with this guy. I already have the 12v Revy from back when they were still made by Viewloader. The guts and body will remain as they are. My goal is to just make it comfortable to shoot and leave it alone.
