| This space is vacant. Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Vineland, Ontario | Kind of new to Mags. I'm trading a Cocker for a Minimag, and I've got some questions. The Mag has a double trigger benchmark, it looks like, and I've had some trouble with those frames on a Mag before - anything I should worry about? I've got a stock frame with double trigger coming, should there be any problems. And, I know I shouldn't, but I'll probably run A/S CO2 on it with a female Stab for the first while until I get a HPA tank. Anything I should look out for? What are some upgrades I should look into? Jordan

| Ultimate Battle Monkey Z | Benchmark frames tend to feel TERRIBLE until you put air on the gun. They have a lot of side to side trigger slop that really doesn't enter into play once the gun is aired up and you have pressure from the trigger rod to the trigger. If you run CO2 with a Stabe, run the Stabe pretty much wide open. Your mag likes high pressure; the higher the better. Push as much PSI as you can to it. If your mag has old plumbing on it, you may want to pull your fittings to check them. Some older fittings had a CO2 filter that screwed into one side of an elbow, usually the one nearest the tank. The filter was to keep contaminants out of the air system, but what it really did was starve your mag of volume, and contribute to the shoot-down problem. There really aren't a lot of aftermarket upgrades that actually do anything to add to your efficiency or performance. If you have a very low serial number mag, you may have a non-indexed inlet port on the regulator body. Basically, some of the earliest mags didn't necessarily have air ports within the valve that lined up. Later mags did. To tell if you have one of these, just open up the valve body and mark where the outlet port on the back part is, and mark where the inlet part on the front half is, and screw the valve back together. If those marks don't line up, you can benefit from an aftermarket reg body (ANS, Diamond Labs, Hurricane Valve, or 8 hole mod). If they do line up, don't worry about it. If you play for a bit and find that you chop paint, you may want to invest in a Level 10 bolt kit. Some folks don't care for them, but I swear by all mine, and I have one on every mag I've got.

| Ultimate Battle Monkey Z | The stock frame will have a "snappier" response than the Benchmark. The Benchmark triggers feel "softer" although I wouldn't go so far as "mushy". It all comes down to trigger geometry. The benchy pushes the trigger rod back with a curve, and the stock pushes it more back with a flat spot. I have plenty of both, and although I didn't care as much for the Benchmark at first, it's now become my favorite.

BTW, is a Benchmark frame a good candidate for a PneuMag conversion? Jordan

| Ultimate Battle Monkey Z | An Intelliframe is a better candidate I believe. The benchy frames have a lot of meat in the grip area that needs to be milled out before you can cram everything you need to cram in there.
