sydarm Qs

Im begainning to realize i kind of want a sydarm. Couple questions though. Do they have detents/nubbins. Are they fixed barrel or twist lock? How do you load the spring feed, is it easy?

Yes, they do use nubbins, they are twist lock barrels(center feed). And you load paint into a port towards the front of the feed tube(not too hard, but can be awkward).

The Sydarm is a creature of what you put into it......

I have owned Squalls, Microsqualls, Tag-8's, Zeus's and played with about all the rest of the different semi pistols out there. The Sydarm is my favorite one. The loading system is the best out there from the factory, other than the fact it is only 8 rounds, it is quick and easy to put the paint in. Push the slide pin forward till it catches dump your eight round tube into the open port on the right of the marker, drop the pin and the feed mechanism is locked in the feed slot again and feeding the balls. 12grams are fairly easy to change, no quicksilver on a squall but almost as fast as a quickchanger. As will all the pistols I have owned it takes some time to get the feel for where the controls are, but overall very easy and even though the SS body adds some heft it helps to steady my shots. BTW if you are to pickup a Sydarm my recommendation is to have a freak barrel back machined for a CF slot. With this install on the sydarm you can match the paint to the bore which will give you the ultimate in accuracy and efficiency. My Sydarm shown has a mag to cocker adaptor install w/ a blank barrel back for freak inserts and a flashpoint tip. One of a small # of custom touches that make it my favorite pistol of all time.

There is one that Spindoctor is selling w/ a pump rail and body. I think he has it posted here under rare/old markers. Would make for an interesting pump pistol.

BTW I have tinkered with the idea of making a mag pistol out of a ULE body into something like this...

Just without the double trigger and a classic valve so it can actually run on 12grams correctly. There is some real cost involved though. If you can get the Sydarm for less than $350 and it is great shape, Buy it, then upgrade from there to your hearts content.

I'll be selling my Sydarm after I get it fixed. Presently all it does is piss the air everywhere around the 12 gram.

There is one posted on E-Bay right now, and they are rather pricey.

PS- Since they are nolonger in production, most or all(99%) will be pre-owned/used. Although many parts are compatible with early mags.
