Question on boring out classic barrel.

I want to bore out a barrel of a classic mag to accept freak inserts. Has anyone done this? ANy problems arise with this project?

The barrel has an integrated bore, so boring it out is not an option. You would lose the use of the nubbins, and the bore would be much too large, causing breaks.

Instead, try the Python barrel kit, for mags. It takes any cocker barrel front.

Easiest solution would be to get the python kit and have a machinist turn down the crown point barrel into cocker threads to fit the python.

It would be a subtle, yet trick-oldschool, custom setup.

What's the use of nubbins if you have a good paint match?

If you want to use a forcefeed loader system, nubbins help prevent double-feeding. (The stock RT barrel is grooved to use 2 nubbins due to the RT valve's possible high rate of fire.)

Bleh, even premium paint varies enough within a bag. I'd rather have a mildly over-bored barrel with detents than a tight bore barrel and deal with barrel breaks. Especially close to the bolt on a mag, I've had shells and sticky paint completely gum up a bolt.

You guys are getting rollouts past the plastic detents with the stock mag barrel?

Maybe grab some wire detents and bend them to work.
