Hahaha.. OH CRAP!!

Note to self. If your automag valve doesn't slide easily out of the body, it's because there is stored pressure pushing on the on/off. If you pull it out, the on/off becomes a projectile that would destroy sensitive body parts like eyes and manly parts.

Yeah, I know, I know. I knew that already. I've heard of it happening. But somehow that happened to me today. The on/off came out with a loud bang that scared the crap out of me and my roommate in another room ("Dude, seriously" = "Really, you gotta not do stuff like that"). Thankfully it bounced harmlessly off my left thigh toward the outside and didn't hit my eye or my crotch. Yowtch! That would'a hurt. And, surprisingly, I found it. NOT an experience I plan to repeat.

I've done that three times so far .. and the most recent time I actually tested the ballistic characteristics of the on|off pin

You'd think I'd learn ....

Yeah, I didn't really expect to find it. Bum way to lose a ULT. But I did, luckily.

I've learned! I hope. Maybe by posting here and seeing the thread on later visits that it'll sink in.

Lucky mine was just a regular one... I found some of the parts but I ended up losing them again through the same process.

^ Come to think of it... I didn't try to shoot it afterward. I'm sure its fine, but that possibility didn't even come to mind.

This is why I got into the habit of popping the QD on my air line after the air source was removed and the gun shot out. It gives a quick puff of air and I know it is empty.

Heh, saw someone do that at the field, shot his on/off pin about twenty feet into the woods. The amazing thing was that we found it after less than a minute of looking.
