you know what might be neat, a Aluminum A.I.R. valve with no reg, built in, and a Hollow Point like bolt and tunned for better efficiency

it would be like a mech G3, BTW where are the pics of those mags with no A.I.R. valves, i would like to post those pics in a G3 thread and show them how much a bite the design actually is

I know, I know...wishful thinking on my part. I dunno - just something about the way the guy said he didn't know if there would be anymore in 2008 was strange.

It certainly wouldn't suprise me if it was just another nail in the coffin. After their move, I pretty much had figured it was the beginning of the end.

However, one can hope!

All it means is they are selling more of their backstock... this is a good thing.

On the specops paintball forums, automags have gotten much more popular. still on on the level of tippmanns and the like, but there is an increased interest.

I think they're doing fine. Low overhead, still selling markers, etc. I don't expect anything new to come out of AGD, but I don't think they need anything new, aside from something to appeal to the less-wealthy crowd, $500 for a tac one setup isn't cheap.

I hope some of the more serious woodsballers stop spending $300 in cosmetic upgrades on their tippmanns and start realizing what a deal the tac one is.

How true! My brother has invested about $500 total on his x-7 (gun + ups), and complains about not having enough money to play. I don't believe he's used it more than twice since he got it.

A person must use their gun before deciding what more it needs. Set it up to play, then go get the pretty stuff.

With the Tac-one, there is no $100 barrel shroud, $50 simulated mil-spec magazine, $46 G-36c carry handle, $150 folding stock (Oh, wait. That was for the A-5. Gotta wait 3 months till the one for the x-7 comes out. Silly me), oh, and a barrel that has an O.D. smaller than the inside of the shroud.

Make it effective. Then make it more effective. THEN make it pretty.

From a conversation I had a while back - and anyone more knowledgeable than me feel free to correct me - but the Pro Classic they're selling is a re-built valve. I was under the impression that they're still working through old stock - rebuilding rental valves into classic valves.

I assume they have to have some parts made - but I don't know that they're making any whole classic valves anymore. This might be what he was referring to - that they are almost out of the parts they're building these guys from.

As I said - I may be wrong about this, anyone?

As much as I hate to say it, AGD is a status quo company being kept alive by the dedicated mag users and 3rd party purveyors of aftermarket parts. Not a really healthy business plan for longevity as a company if you ask me.

I love my mags, I really really do, but the writing is on the wall. While AGD may not be dead, it is certainly on life support with the plug just hanging in the socket. When it is no longer a profitable company, it will fold. I fear that day is getting closer and closer.
There may not be any R&D for innovations going on but they could do quite a bit with what they already know and do. Cut costs and weight by building the AIR valve from aluminum (as mentioned above) and put a new aluminum body with threads on it for additional weight savings and cost reduction. I think with only a little bit of work, they could have a solid 'gun for around $175 or so and I believe they could do well with it.

all that someone needs to do is make a body where the whole valve is moved forward so the bolt clears the gripframe and then you can have it underfeeding

Wink

Just looks to me they are only going to stock what sells.
And thats the components for Tac Ones and RT Pros.
I doubt they sell very many starter markers with classic valves.

If AGD is operating out of a garage, then you probably spoke with someone at an answering service when you called there. The poor smuck answers the phone like he works for AGD, but has probably never seen a paintgun and never heard of an Autococker.

ALL of my mags have had classic valves. A lot of new maggots get a classic valve first to see if it's a design they will like.
