Emag issues......

I am working on a friends e-mag and it would seem that the noid is not working. it is set in semi using the jumper the trigger is registering shot counts but the noid is doing nothing. this is the first e-mags i have looked at so I might just be missing somthing.

anyone else have this issue.

recharge it. the noid needs a lot of juice to switch, which is why the battery is as large as it is, but the board doesn't need that much.

thats what I was thinking. It would pull a little when the trigger was fired so it told me all the conections were good but it might not be getting enough power.

I told him to either trade me my halo for it or just go home and put a serious charge to it and see what happens.

we will see if that works.

all in all it is a very cool system. I had never played with one before. I might have to get one sooner or later.

The solenoid plunger might need adjustment as well. Somewhere on AO there are micrometer readings for the proper length.

Proper rod lengths can be found in the Xmod manual, tried to attach it here, but its too big. The plunger rod length should be: 3,005" measured from the tip of the plunger to the end of the rod. Sear rod length should be 2,125". Now from what i've measured between my e/xmags, these values differ sometimes. If your gun is unable to fire with current lengts, you could increase the plunger length with increments of 0,005" up to 3,020"

Now before you actually start tinkering with the rod lengths, i would advise you to measure the voltage of your battery. It should be atleast 16,8 volts after charging. Please note that when the led on the charger turns green, the battery is not fully charged yet. It takes about an hour extra to fully charge it (see the emag manual)

Older batteries tend to loose their charge pretty fast, making them unusable for the e/x. If you need a replacement, go to AO's B/S/T dealer section and pick up a 1000mAh battery.

thanks for all the good information. The noid is pulling but not very strong so that would tell me that the battery needs to be charged. When I asked him when he charged it last he said he never has in the time he has owned it. so hopefully that will fix it.

Thanks for all the help Aaron and everybody I am pretty new to the sport and all this help is much appreciated. Just to give everybody an update charging the battery worked. Not the first time but after resetting the charger it finally worked. It still isn't firing but I have an idea of why ,if I can't figure it out I'll let you know.

awsome. if the noid is working check the rod length as stated above. it might be too long. and if all else fails just give it to me..... if you don't have it up and running leave it at HPP and I will take a look at it this weekend.

And welcome to MCB. make yourself at home.

Yup, Welcome!

But before changing rod lengths, check the battery!

I hope the problems with this gun will be fixed soon, but from personal expierence i must say i've had issues with all of my mags that have E/Xmag lowers. The issues were things like:

- Wrong length on/off pin. The gun would fire in either mech or electro mode, but not both.
- Weak magnet in trigger. Either the trigger is sloppy, or the hall sensor does not pick up the pulls very well.
- Mechanical safety stuck. Still have to fix this one...
- Bad battery. Gun fires when fully charged, but after a few hoppers it won't shoot in e-mode anymore. The fix was getting a new battery.
- Cracked led screen. Good luck ordering one from digikey if you live in the netherlands. Thanks to A-Tach-One i got a replacement
- Worn sear. Also hard to get if i can't order them from AGD directly (also due to my geographical location)

Since i don't have a tech nearby that can check out my guns, i've had to learn to fix it the hard way. Asking questions on the forums, getting replacement parts, etc, etc. And still there are things that i'm still not sure how to fix. One of the issues is that when the gun is not shot for a few minutes, the first trigger pull is just a click, and no shot. Everything after that is ok. I've replaced a o-ring in the on/off, hoping it's because the o-ring sticks to the on/off pin but i can't be sure this is the solution. Also a Xmag that i have, has this issue.

That being said, does not mean it's a bad gripframe to put on a mag. But it has it's issues that are not easily fixed by someone that has little expierence with them. One thing you definatly should get if it's not on there allready is the Xmod 1.8 software flash. All the original AGD software is great, but with Xmod your gun will be up to date with more features than ever available with the original software. I'm not just talking about firemodes, because infact it has even more than the average speedball gun but also things like dwell and fix (debounce) that were never available on the AGD versions.

If you can't get it to work right, check out Tunaman on automags.org or Ruler_mark of modmymag.com (website seems down atm) They should have your issues fixed without any problem.

Ok the next problem I have. it tries the fire in all modes but just clicks and blow air, the bolt doesn't completely fire. I've tried to turn the velocity up but that doesn't work. I tried oiling the bolt and all the moving parts in the trigger but nothing works. the only thing I've found is in the regulator the pin doesn't seem to move freely and stays down so I have to pull the rail off and push the pin back in to get the bolt out. all the o-rings are in place and seem to be in good shape. any help would be appreciated.
