Leak

Generic title, I know, but that's what it is. I don't hear any leaks when airing up, and I can squeeze off two or three shots and everything still sounds good, but after the third shot you can hear a leak develop, and then it gets steadily worse, whether I shoot or not. It goes away when the trigger is held down. Anyone know what I'm looking at here? It's a 68 classic valve.

I'll start with the easy stuff. Have you oiled it up recently? Is the power tube oring brown and or brittle? May just need a new o ring.

if it doesn't leak when the trigger is held the powertube oring is either bad or very dry. Oil fixes many things on Mags otherwise change out the oring.

The other question is did it not leak before or did you just get this marker as it may also be a power tube spacer issue if replacing the oring doesn't work.

I just got the marker, aired it up for the first time and this happened. When dismantling the valve part as far as I know how to, none of the parts look damaged/worn. And it's practically drenched in oil. I may have to disassemble further, but I figured maybe it was a known issue. I'll look over the parts mentioned, thanks.

In retrospect, I'm not sure the mag world is good for a natural born quitter like myself.

when you take the bolt off the power tube does the tip of the power tube have a slot across the top or does it have a hexagonal shape like a bolt?? If its a slot you have a lvl 7 standard bolt which will make it easier. Use a nickel and unscrew the power tube tip and digg out the spacer and oring

Yep, it's a slot. There is only supposed to be one o-ring under the spacer, right? Everything looks kosher so far, o-ring looks fine.

yep some times putting the o-ring in after the spacer helps fix leak problems but the power tube o-ring is the most important and should be well lubricated

I'll give it some more time and effort tomorrow; automags and apartments don't mesh after 10pm. Thanks.

Well, there's also the matter of guns firing not being the best way to get the kid to sleep.
