pneumag . . . or electric sear tripper?

I am contemplating some tinkering with my permanent project Minimag. right now I have an R/T valve in it. I briefly had an X valve with the ULT trigger, but I actually didn't like the trigger feel on it . . . too used to the R/T I guess

so . . . right now it throws paint pretty damn good. But its not as consistent as I would like. That is, when I want it to just shoot a 50rnd rope it sometimes balks.

I'd like to hear peoples opinions on pneumags and on the electric sear tripper jobs (namely the ones using frames from cheapo STBB's)

The pneumags can be good or bad, depending on the skill of the builder. You will loose the RT effect with either a Pmag or any type of emag. (even in M mode, the wieght of the sear prevents long RT-effect strings)

I made my own electropnuematic sear tripper that has been totally outstanding. I also researched it for about a year before I built it. As great as it is, im finding it is total overkill. It is seriously way way too fast even in semi mode. Im actually leaning towards buildng another mech in the near future for those times when I dont need the extra punch.

I personally love the ULT, especially when I make them bounce like the RT. -Super light AND you get the RT effect. :-)

Well, from my experience, both are great and will run you about the same price. I've shot Spydermags before with T-Boards and 50g switches and they are very nice. I'm also friends with Pneumagger (over on AO) and have shot a ton of his workings and love the pneumag too.

Basically, it comes down to a few things:
1. Are you used to an electro trigger pull? Pneumags have a completely different feel when pulling the trigger. You're not pressung a switch, but more or less moving a piston. It is really easy to get used to, but don't expect to be able to rip without some practice.

2. Do you like firing modes? Pneumags are either strictly semi or strictly full-auto (this only works with an EMag on/off, though), whereas electros can have ramping, semi, full, 3,6,9 shot bursts, etc.

3. Are you okay with batteries? Pneumags, being mech, don't need any, but electros do. Kinda just told you what you already know... My bad.

Or you can do like I'm doing and get both!

Pneumagger has my Logic UMF frame at his place to be converted to an EP using an Ion board. I hope to be able to install eyes and grab a Virtue board for it once it's all done. It'll be my primary tourney/paint-throwing gun.
But, as a backup tourney gun/paint-thrower, I'm trying to find a UMF substitute (since they're not being made any more) to be converted into a pneumag.

Either way you go, you'll want the ULT in. Pneumags overall trigger pull weight will be less because you'll be able to drop the LPR pressure, and for some electro conversions it's a must (Spyder frame solenoids are much too weak to handle a full RT on/off, but ULT's work very well).

For pneumag/electro-pneumag pricing and modding info, send Pneumagger a PM on AO. And for Spydermag and related info, contact Luke. It's really just preference. And like I said, pricing is very similar (approx. $150 + your frame for a pneumag, or $100 plus your e-frame for a Spydermag).

A few good sources:
For an Ion board operated EP Mag:

MPA-3 install:

The COMPLETE Pneumag database:
http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=201012
Another EP project:

There are a slew of other resouces. AO is the place for them, too.

(And if you want to electrify your gun, I have a functioning Spyder ESP Frame with T-Board, rechargable battery + charger, and Dye stickes if you want it. PM me if interested.)

Don I think you should just throw all of the parts in a box (including a vm for good luck) seal it up and just shake... with your good fortune you will open it up and find the bestest, fastest mag ever

Sorry, I had to..... you being jo-jo the gun plumber and all

No, that doesn't look like a headache waiting to happen AT ALL.

Do VM's or PMI's or whataver that is even need regs to begin with?

it actually worked really well double regged . . . I could run a slightly lower pressure, get more consistency, and better efficiency also

VM's being VM's . . . they pretty much work no matter what. I've run them on liquid, run them on air, run them on regged CO2
