I've never seen one up close. How do they work? Can someone show me a picture?

I'm not positive, but I think that section on the valve with the two o-rings with the little hole between them is facing upward in the body, and the section on the 12ie plug between the o-rings has some sort of transfer port...

Yes, it is tranfered via the holes in between those 2 o-rings.

Except the valves have 4 of those holes, so it doesn't have to face upwards.
