Hey. I'm looking at picking up an E-mag, but frankly, I don't know what I need to look for, or even where to begin. My experience with Mags is fairly limited; I've got a pretty standard ULE Mag with a Lvl10, but thats about the extent of what I know. Plus, Mags seem to be relatively uncommon in my area; I don't think I've ever seen an E-mag at a game, and only a handful of Tac-1s. Really, I know nothing. I see a lot of different types of E-mags, and a lot of different bodies and frames, with a fairly wide variety of bolts. So please, enlighten me: What is an E-mag? What is it essentially? What makes it tick? Is it just a mech mag with a battery pack e-grip type setup, or is it more complex than that? Can you use any body/bolt/frame with an E-mag? How hard is it to come buy replacement parts/battery packs? Whats the deal with the different software versions? Can I really save money on my car insurance by switching to Geico? My Goal is to acquire a relatively basic one, and slowly build it into my dream marker electric marker, probably through the process of throwing large amounts of money down a black hole. So, really, any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks, Aegis |

It's going to cost you something like a grand to start with. I think the first question would be why? If you're not into collecting Automags already you're definitely going to find more common and more modern electro guns for much less than half the cost. I guess I should answer a couple of your questions. An E-mag can be switched from electro to mech. If you're battery goes down you can just use it mechanically. What makes it electro is the lowers. You can put E-mag lowers on a Tac-1 body for example. Automags.org forums are a good place to get all the info you're looking for. All of it is already there.

Base Emags run for about $600 for the basic set up and only go higher. They, like any other Mags, are (almost) universally interchangeable with other Mag parts. There are plenty of AGD enthusiasts that can get you the parts for repairs and upgrades. There are different versions of the gun, but it's (IMO) superfluous extras. Like most Mags, you can and probably will black hole all your cash into it. You NEED to check out Automags.Org: to get more info. It will help out a lot. |

If you want to build a custom emag the price would be like this: Emag lower $300 ish, i bought mine for 220, but i was lucky and snatch it on sale. This is the bottom part of the emag kinda like a regular mag frame but with a different sear assembly, a solenoid, board, and a battery pack. About right now is when all the batteries from original emag die, due to age. You can buy an after market battery pack from a guy name chris on Automags.org for 40 dollars. Emag body: the top body can be anything but a classic RT body, your price varies on what you want. Karta Body = 500, phoenix = 300, ule = 120 ish, fluid = 300 ish more or less if you want the battery milled, there are other one that cost more or less than the price listed above. valve: any valve will work except the valve that is on the classic rt. Price from 60 ish up to 300 depending on type and color Rail: any emag rail will work. A stock emag can be purchase for 600. The xmod 1.8 is a software that allow the board to have current firing mode like ramping, psp, etc... Otherwise the stock emag software will do, and you don't really need the xmod software. Other than that you can also upgrade/replace the trigger, feedneck, etc on your emag depending on need. Or if you want, save up to 1000 and go for an xmag, those are rarer and a bit more of a holy grail for certain people. It work a bit differently than the mag due to it board software and ACE setup. |
