ULE Body for AGD Automag RT Classic HELP!

Hey, judging by my last post- you guys are mostly very helpful and knowledgeable, so I am going to ask for help on one other problem I am having with my Classic RT:

....I have a blue smear Automag RT classic and want a ULE vertical feed body for it, but I soon learned that the ULE bodies DO NOT FIT the Classic RTs, only the RT Pro.
I definitely want to make it work somehow, so could you guys throw me an idea or two? I am thinking of getting one and machining it to match the hole pattern of my current body.

I took a couple quick photos of the underside of my current RT Classic Body- could you guys take a couple pics of the underside of the ULE vertical feed bodies so I can figure out what kind of changes would have to be made? Just wanted to see if it is possible before I drop a bunch of money on one. thanks! -KingAcquisitions

It'll fit the rail without any problems. You'll just need a bushing for the rear screw hole and you won't be able to use the classic RT valve. You can't use the ULE body with the classic RT valve, you'd have to use a 68 classic valve, ReTro Valve, or Xvalve.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Altec made a few adapters to let you use the RT classic w/ a ULE body.

your choice in the end would be:

If you plan to keep the classic RT valve : then you need the adapter.

If you want to upgrade your valve and body: then just run the hose directly into the X or other valve.

On a side note, do you want to sell your RT body if you get a new ule?

I contacted him and will be in touch, Luke's Customs seems to have some useful stuff>> I am going to post some photos I took of the classic and the rt breeches sitting next to the classic valve and my rt valve so you guys can see how they line up and if a simple drilling could be done to a ULE body to make it fit on the RT classic-- still in the experimental stage......

It's kind of hard to explain, but the frame screw is .035" farther back then a standard mag. I am in the process of doing this same kind of retro fit. If you would like me to try to explain this more, PM me.

Okay, for all who has viewed this post- I have finally reached a verdict in my quest to get a ULE body to work on my classic RT:

I spoke with a long time technician from Airgun Designs. He said that the bodies for classic RTs are the only bodies that will work with them. ULE bodies cannot be used for a number of reasons. Many modifications would need to be made to the body in order for it to fit, including the internal bore size as well as placement of holes, grooves and such. Other bodies and parts were never intended for use on the RT classic, which is why they developed the RT Pro, which COULD accept parts from other automags without problem. Virtually all the parts on the RT Classic are proprietary for the RT Classic only and there is almost no way around that.

So, in conclusion, I believe that if someone were determined enough to get a ULE body to work on a classic RT, they could- but many, many things would have to be changed (including things not apparent to the eye) in order for a body other than the stock one to be used with a Classic RT; And thats coming from the engineer who helped develop the RT. Hope this helps. -Alex
