I need a charger for my newly aquired e-mag. I bought what I thought to be a complete one but it looks like I am missing the adapter to hold the charge against the battery. anyone have one or know where I can get one? also a nice diagram to show me what I am missing would be nice.

PM Chris Nearchos over on Automags.org, he has an aftermarket solution that will help you out.

I have seen the solution he has and I could make one too but I am looking for the stock charger diagram as I have the everything I believe except the adapter. I just want to make sure I am not missing anything. this is my issue: I took the red and black tabs from the carger box that are on the leeds and conected them to the battery in corresponding red to black. When I pluged it in I watch the board in the box and a resistor got red hot. so I need to know if I am missing something.

So what exactly do you have? The stock AGD charger for an emag is the adapter that sits on top of the battery. the car cable or the Rat Shack wall adapter (Cat No 273-1779) is only there to provide 12+V of power to the charger on the battery. ![]() The business end for the battery interface ![]() The magic parts inside... It's a regulated charger that knows when the battery is getting full...

that is perfect. I have the box, and cord I am missing the adapter block to the battery. is there aything in the adapter block besides leeds that conect to screws? shouldn't I be able to hook up the red and black wires to the battery and have the same outcome?

when I do that the resistor in the pic gets instantly red hot. ![]() does red not go to red and black not go to black on these?

Sounds like your resistor might have died... check it with a multi meter and make sure is about 1-2 ohms. Here are some discussion on AO that talks about the resistor used from the factory was too small of a wattage and over time failing... Automags.Org Online Forums - AGD Emag Charger Fail?!?! reads 1.2 ohms so it doesn't look like I fried it. (hopefully) I have been talking to Tunaman via e-mail and he thinks the issue is with my battery. so I have a stock "junk" charger coming and a new battery off of ebay. (the guy makes them so I will give them a shot)
