| WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! | Shootdown, just wanted to check
Hey guys- I've finally got my "stealth mag" up and running, and as far as single shots go, it works great... But on rapid-firing I get quite a bit of shootdown very quickly. I'm thinking its my tank reg (its a pure energy tank with whatever reg came with it) but my buddy Small Block has me worried it might be my remote line.. I just don't do tank-on-gun. I'm not comfortable with it at all, I've always used stocks of some form or another and this Mag has a really comfy T-stock on it. Setup is: Xvalve w/ Lvl10, red spring, 4 shims (i think, I kind of forgot how many I wound up with), stock on/off Tac-one warp left body Qloader Logic UMF frame T stock Pure energy tank/reg 32degrees coiled Remote line The only other thing I'm thinking it could be is I'm using a BT4 ASA I had lying around bolted to the underside of the t-stock for the remote adapter- these are notorious for poor flow when stock because the hole is drilled too far to the side, but I used a dremel to notch a nice deep channel all the way to the middle so it shouldn't be a concern.. I think I'm going to test it again with the remote nipple plugged right into the vert ASA just to be safe. Anyone know anything about the pure energy reg's recharge rate? I'm thinking of sending two of my tanks out to crossfire for the reg-swap service... Its only like $65 per tank for the reg and installation... Anybody else here run a remote and have problems with shootdown or not?

That's pure energy for you... You can actually feel the difference in reactivity instantly when you switch from a Pure Energy at 850 to a Crossfire at the same pressure.

Thats what I figured... Oh well, I have 2 x 88/4500's and one 68/4500, so I can keep one 88 here so I can still play while I send the other two out for new regs. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Interestingly enough I just put 300 rounds through it with my 68 tank today and even though its the same reg as on the 88, reactive worked pretty much fine... a teeny little bit of drop off but not nearly as severe as the other tank. I'm going to send them both out anyway since I've been meaning to upgrade to better regs anywho, but just thought it was odd..

I'm thinking it was the remote line since you can actually choke the air supply with it. Typically you want to screw the remote line it so that you hear it gassing up, and then another quarter or so turn after. This way you'll have plenty of airflow.

![]() I work at a field that had about 50 Pure Energy tanks come in to replace Crossfires that had been going strong for 5 years. The PE tanks instantly had problems, ranging from bonnets coming loose to exploding fill nipples and burst discs, to zero output pressure and extremely high output pressure. I wouldn't recommend that anyone buy them, ever.

I've had similar pure energy problems. I had a bonnet unscrew most of the way. It would have killed someone if I hadn't noticed that it didn't "feel" right. I also had one that began ticking after a fill. I'm guessing the ticking was some sort of pressure teeter-totter going on around the release as it eventually drained the whole tank. I've since replaced both those regs and never had trouble again.

Russ and/or Robert, question for you both (I am still new to HPA). I am using a PE 68/4500, and it has had some bonnet unscrewing issues. If I swap the regulator to a Ninja or Crossfire one, will that fix any issues? I am guessing the bottles themselves are fine. Thanks. |
