Purple Stainless?

I picked up this mag the other day, completly love it just wish previous owner hadn't cut the trigger guard.
Anyway i know the alumn. is anno'd but what was done or most likely done to the steel to get this finish? Its almost like the steel was anno'd but i know that can't be done.

And also a aprox. value for this mag

classic RT
Intelli w/ cut trigger frame
level 10

It may mot be steel. It could very well be Aluminum or Titanium. To my knowledge those are the only two metals that are anodizable. Its also hard to tell from the pic what the actual hue is. If it is indeed steel then it could have been blued.

Looks like a finish like urethane paint or powdercoat.

Actually that looks like bawitheba from AO's test body for a new type of rainbow/aurora plating.

I remember that cut frame pretty clearly. If this is the gun I'm thinking of, it was a test run for a new plating process that was similar to Aurora plating without the inherent problems associated with hitting your metal gun with 40,000 volts.

That was my first thought as well. Looks quite a bit like the one on AO.

yeah, I sold that to bawithaba a year or two ago...the body was polished ss and the frame was chrome at that time though....

I don't know who cut the frame, thats how it came to me.

Can't remember what I sold it for...$265-300ish probably?

wonder why your previous owner decided to cut it, I can't seem to figure out what would be the point of it.

If it didn't have a hole in the frame already, cutting it would make removal with an allen wrench slightly easier.
