I think you guys are just making crap up.

CO2 can impregnate buna, causing it to swell. Which increases friction between the ring and the surface it seals against considerably. Which can cause it to wear out at a faster rate, or break. To solve the problem, use Viton.

I think you both could be right on the CO2 vs HPA thing.

At the same pressure, the CO2 will probably give better velocity, but HPA can be set to much higher pressure, giving both more velocity, an more wear.
