Can you rethread phantom barrels with autococker threads?

When Sterling was on this site, trying to get input on what would make their guns more marketable in the US, my very adament suggestion was autococker threading. They avoided addressing it until after I had pushed a little to far, and they said that the barrel threads would break into the lower tube. This was based on analysis of a 3d model of their current line.... But I would still like to get a hold of one to check for myself.

I would most likely have to agree with them unfortunately. The shaft of an ac barrel won't even fit into the sterling body, much less the threads. The front of the body would also have to be cut down a little in the front b/c ac barrels are shorter. You might be able to make some sort of adapter/insert to make it work, but I don't know. I wish they had just changed the body to be ac threaded. It shouldn't have been that hard to do.

Oddly, I happen to have a Sterling in the shop right now.

Not a single point you mentioned pertained to rethreading the gun. Those are all features that I regularly change on almost every gun that I update.
The suggestion of an adapter is utterly ridiculous. What would that even look like?

The sole issue and the nail in the coffin for rethreading Sterlings is the distance between the hammer tube and the barrel tube. Less than 1" center-to-center, which means that a cocker barrel will inelegantly break into the hammer tube.

Just got my Inception back in the mail, very nice and I have plans for it already.

I will be testing a few things later but for now its on my ULE mag and I like it. I may have to send you an old crowntip to cut and thread to go on here. Could you bore out the leftover bit and make a mag to cocker adapter too? I'm not sure which direction I am going yet but I would love to know.

Also, I was looking at a Dye Stainless cocker barrel and was wondering if you could toss it in the lathe knock the shroud hump off of the front of it to make it more streamline.

Thanks

Do you think you could rethread a shoebox shocker for cocker threads?
