Gotta give a shout out to Ty here!

He was able to head out to my shop today and help me get my mill trammed and lathe compound parallel, was a good day and I finally got to meet an MCB member. Have a few small personal projects on mind, so we will see where it goes

LaxPro69 has some sweet machines... Need to do a bit of reading on the Gorton mill... Silly power feeds... Both X and quill.

I will post some pictures of the turret tailstock, if it fits, later tonight/tomorrow morning.

There is a Clausing 8520 within range of me that I've been eyeing. Was listed for 3k, but then dropped to 1.5k within a week. Doing some reasearch on it and asked the seller a few questions. Seems to be pretty well liked on the forums as a home shop mill. Hard to get a good feel for what it's worth, but this one is likely to be on the lower side of things because the paint is not the best and it looks to need a lot of cleaning. Depending on what answers I get from the seller I might try to come in with a lowball based on the condition and elbow grease (not to mention the distance to drive) to get it where it might need to be.

Apparently Clausing has some pretty good support for these mills and has a lot of parts available if ever needed.

Does it come with the old man? Upkeep may be expensive on that feature.

They sell for a pretty penny as they are good home sized machines. If he dropped it that quickly, odds are he may go lower . Keep us updated, any pictures of the actual machine?

No people included with the one close to me, which is good because I don't have any spare bedrooms.

Since I'm doubting (hoping?) it won't get plucked by the group in this thread: MILL

There is also a set of videos on youtube that some guy made about rebuilding one of these. I started watching them last night, so I'm only into the second one. Pretty interesting so far. The motor/splindle configuration is just so odd, but it's growing on me.

Doesn't look like a bad mill, hard to tell if its madly rusted or if thats grease on the ways. Make sure you can't move them by hand when you push on the ways, check it with an indicator in the head if you can. I would offer much less then he's asking, but I'm cheap

Those things are mills?

I have one at work that we have pretty much set up permanently for counter sinking.
