I have not had luck trying to get it to slot with an end mill the same width as the feature. Have you tried 2d slot? Maybe then in the heights tab change bottom to from stock top or something so you can input the depth of the slot.

You might also try turning off you lead in and lead out dimensions. That way the cutter does not need "clearance" to get into or out of the slot.

I think I sort of figured it out, but I don't really like the solution. In 'slot' > heights, the bottom (of the 4) parameters is 'bottom'. That was zero by default and by making it -.1 it went to the bottom of the feature... and beyond that. So, it looks like the band-aid solution is to make that the value of the lowest point of my feature.

Draw a line at the bottom of the feature (slot) and then use a trace, with the tool running in center mode.

I was able to get the best path with RAMP. ADAPTIVE CLEARING was good as well, but had a lot of swirls and in this instance I only need a straight line. You have to drop the radius setting to zero in adaptive if you want it to work. Might be a few other boxes you have to combine properly as well.
