I spent the day today boring some stainless barrels. These things are no fun at all. They turn out really nice but they take forever and I can't use my boring jig I have to put them in the hard chuck so I cant bore any goofy profile barrels. I am still on the fence on if I want do them on a regular basis I will say that they will be rather expensive to make it worth the trouble.

| Handgoon | is this because you lack the machines to do this? or because you lack the know how? because if it is the second and you want to learn I have a couple of spare tiberius barrels that you could practice on

My setup uses the reamer to support the work. this works well for reaming since the forces are balanced but for anything else this setup will not work. To thread it I would have to tear it down and make another setup to thread. Its kinda a pain in the butt. The second reason is if I am going to thread something I like to have the mating part to check it against. Since I don't have a T8 to check it against I can't be 100% sure it will work every time.

If you create a externally threaded collar, that fits on custom internal threads in the muzzle end of the barrel to retain the Freak, it would work. I suspect that it will be an expensive proposition, though. Ty

One of the members is going to send me one to give it a shot. I think I am going to just take the easy way out on this one though and see if I can just chuck it up in the 3 jaw. I did it recently to a practice barrel and it came out just as good as the jig but with much less screwing around. I am still using the jig for most barrels but I figured I would just give it a try.
