Laser Engraver

The laser engraver has finally made it to the house.

After a minor setback, UPS delivered these two boxes...

These things are armored like they were intended to be air dropped... Without parachutes!

Let's start with the smaller box

1" thick layer of foam covered in yellow packing tape

Various objects inside, wrapped in bubble wrap

A manual (Funny part is... I haven't had time to read it, yet.

The repurposed pond pump for cooling the laser tube.

Adaptors for various places, voltages and frequencies.

Software and miscellaneous bits of hardware

Exhaust fan

Exhaust fan ducting. This is the only damaged piece I could find. With a little work I was able to uncrush it. I doubt it will change the effectiveness.

And now we start with the larger box that contains the actual machine.

Under the outer layer of padding was the box.

Box covered in Chinese characters... Usually when you are adventuring, you avoid opening boxes covered in strange symbols

Inside the box... Guess what.. More padding!

Warning sheets in Engrish

Sheet 1 (I know it is upside down... I think it was written for our friends in Australia

Sheet 2

I am so glad I wasn't a spy... My handlers would never be able to make out my photos

More padding inside the box

962,451 layers of bubble wrap!

The first peek at the actual machine!

A freshly hatched cheap Chinese laser engraver

Inside the machine, with the gantry tied down for shipping

CO2/CO laser tube... The heart of the beast

Looking from the breech toward the muzzle end... Fire lazors!

Completely unboxed. Now to find it a home.

I love the two we have at school, you will have a blast. I have engraved everything from anodized aluminum to meat and bagels. Also cut clear plexiglas parts and some woodwork.

You, sir, are so very correct! Actually, this is a piece I have wanted ever since Alpha cut me some truly awesome parts.

Chinese and Junk come to mind. Nothing American. The units are rebranded by a few other companies, including Artsign and of course the price tag is bumped up also.

Laser engraved steak! I like that idea! You can personalize them prior to cooking

Plans involve using plastics and wood to practice on. Eventually, I will be engraving a couple of 98's I have in the parts box.
