Can anyone Replace my cocker upper tube with Brass?

So I have an idea I was wondering if anyone could do, or if it looks like a bad idea.

I want to have the upper tube of my cocker bored out to take a brass insert of some type, large enough for brass insert to replace the upper tube.

I picture the insert would reach to about the black line here, or farther if reasonable:

Only the top of the body would be removed, leaving the side milling behind so the brass would be visible something like this:

Here is an idea of how much material is there:

Any thoughts?

Why not a brass bolt and just slot the body?

I hadn't thought of doing that, interesting idea. I'd be concerned about excessive wear from the bolt though.

The barrel is a few parts, the front is a Palmer's .690 cocker-threaded barrel, the back is a cocker-cocker threaded freak back made by super-staunchy, and the insert is brass by Ty.
