Id say its all about the communication. If someone is doing work on my gun and is taking a bit longer than normal. I find it almost 100% reassuring to get a quick email that updates me on the progress.

As long as you do the job within a reasonable amount of time and you let the customers now what's going on,there shouldn't be a problem......This is why when I've had Rainman do work for me I don't expect a timeframe,I just tell him take your time and when you get it done let me know....he'd contact me on occasion to update me

Personally I email or PM and ask what the turn around time is and how busy the shop is. I will accept "we are very busy and have stopped taking work till we catch up". Sometimes I can wait a month, I have alot of guns to use. However I have other places I do business with. So I always have a back up. I just don't want anyone to rush or get to far over their head with work.

**** So a NOTE to others****
Always ask how busy someone's shop is before you ask about work. We have plenty of quality airsmiths on this forum, someone is always willing to help.

Blackrain

As a customer, I'd be perfectly fine sending it off for however long is needed IF I AM TOLD UP FRONT...

If I get told that I'll have my gun in 2 weeks, and it doesnt show up for a month... that irks me... but if i get told that my gun will be done in a month, and it gets done in around a month (give or take a little) thats perfectly fine.

It also falls on the customer, not sending something expecting it to be done in 3 days and back in their hands... quality and custom take time...

be upfront, and all will be well... I wouldnt even mind if the person told me to wait to send it in for a week or 2 because of how busy they are.

Personally, a time frame isn't that important to me, as long as communication is there. If you say 3 weeks and it take 3 months, but your keeping in contact, it's all cool.

I don't even mind waiting 6 months for people to finish work. Look at PPS, they can be pretty slow and back logged at times, but at any point during the week you can call them up and give you an update on the work being done.

Hvacman: I've seen your quailty of work. It's definatly worth the wait.

One thing that helps is directing all your business to one e-mail account. Forums are great for showing off your work and such, but trying to keep tabs on all the different paintball forums and PM's gets really hectic. When I get PM's from people on business related stuff I usually just politely reply and tell them to send it to my e-mail. Then at least all your business dealings are in one place, and you have a chronological reference. You're not limited to space like with PM's you have to keep emptying and it's easier not to miss something.

What we all need to remember is this:
Our Airsmiths on this site have REAL JOBS. They give up their FREE TIME for us. We need to give them some breathing room at times. I would reccomend that if the airsmiths are backed up that they post a STICKEY THREAD letting everyone know. We have a good group of guys that offer a service to us. I haven't seen services like this offered on other forum sites.

Blackrain
