Please help

So after giving myself multiple headaches I found the answer to my Nova leak at the very end of the troubleshooting list. Sort of...

My leak is coming from the front slot in between the body and trigger frame. This is apparently caused by worn o-rings on the spool.

My problem is that I can't get the reg housing out of the back of the body. I also can't get the feed neck out to remove the breech and spool from the front. It seems as though someone went a little crazy with the loctite but I can't be sure. The troubleshooting list says there should be small holes in the feed neck to insert a rod to make it easier to remove. There are no holes on mine. Must access spool. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm also curious about the brass reg seat and pin. The seat itself had no o-ring on it when I removed it and had an abundance of dried up sealer of some sort (possibly more loctite). The pin appears to be a half-assed replacement made from a cut-down aluminum rolled pin. I'm pretty sure I can find the correct o-ring but I'm at a loss on the pin. I would like to know what the stock pin should be. I'm assuming it should be solid (which a rolled pin is obviously not) and should fit smoothly into the seat (mine has LOTS of wiggle room). Also how long is it supposed to be?

The marker worked beautifully for the two weeks I had it before the leak started. With the cobbled fixes I found inside I'm getting pretty bummed out.

Please help.

I usually take a 1/4-28(fine thread) bolt and thread it in the velocity adjustment screw hole then clamp it in a vise and pull. Remember to remove the sight rail screw and the rear grip screw before trying to pull the reg.
It sometimes takes a lot of pulling to get the reg out.

Thanks for the response bsm.

So it is safe to pull from the adjuster. That's good to know. I was afraid of overpowering the clip. I like the bolt in the vice idea too. I'll give it a try.

Thanks again.

So I got the reg out with the bolt in the vise. I almost broke my tailbone when it let go and I flew into the wall. Thanks again bsm.

I'm still at a loss with the feed neck removal and regulator pin problems.

Anyone?

Drill a hole in the feedneck, not many more options. Every one I've seen had holes in it for that purpose.

As far as the pin goes it should be solid and have only a little side to side slop. Unfortunately the reg design changed a few times so pin length (and even diameter) could be anything. I've done ones in the past that had no pin (or a roll pin) and I do it by trial and error. Just long enough to push the seat about 1/16 of an inch (IIRC, haven't had one open recently). If someone has one open they might be able to measure how far the pin stick out. I haven't even unpacked yet so I can't be much help.

Well my feedneck just spun right out.Try dunking the body in boiling water for a few minutes.... Then sticking the feedneck in ice water for a few seconds. Then grab it with a nice pair of plastic tip pliers. But yes...Drilling a hole through it and sticking a screwdriver or something else through it and unscrewing it is also another solution. The regulator pin does have a little wiggle room in there. I can take mine out and get a picture and measurements for you if you'd like. For your leak issue make sure the big o-rings around the reg body fit snug in the gun body. Mine was leaking profusely around the same area and it was the big o-rings and not the reg like I had suspected.Let me know what you find.

This sucker's electrical, but I need a nuclear

Currently breaking mine down - this thread alone has been a boon - thanks, guys.

Basshead, I'll check my pin when I pull the reg.

Thanks again for the info guys.

I'm just looking for a few o-rings now to put it all back together.

So I've got yet another question for you guys.

I seem to be having an issue that can only be described as shoot-down. I have never heard of a Nova doing this but it is. A single shot works fine but any more and it starts to quickly decline in velocity and the barrel does not return as quick as it should. Waiting a couple seconds between shots it works fine. It sounds as though something is restricting the flow inside as you can actually hear the chamber slowly filling back up between shots. As you guys know this usually happens instantaneously as you are firing away.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Sounds like some sort of blockage in a line. Tephlon tape or something perhaps?

I would just go through it piece by piece and air passage by air passage. Clean and blow everything out with compressed air.
