Have you tried taking the eyes out of the body and aiming them at each other? If you get some kind of feedback from the led in back then you may need to clean out the eye sockets and make sure the eyes are aligned correctly.

That was a great suggestion; and it worked. Everything seems to be working good now (except that I found it is missing the wire detent). But one is on the way from AKA.
