What will be the end of Vikings? Parts or new markers?

So I realize that there are enough people that have realized how fun it is to shoot a viking that as long as their owners keep playing and the markers keep working they may never die.

But I got to thinking. Larry at AKA told me a while ago that the noids are no longer in production and his supplier wanted him to buy the last of their stock. Now granted they have lots of them but the fact remains the price went up for aka and therefore for us. Whats more the longer they sit . . .

Anyway was just musing on the fact that we are now to the point that some new markers are better than even the fanciest of aka guns. They shoot at the same low pressures, have better ergonomics etc.

Thus I wonder what will put aka's strictly in the wall hanger category?

The solenoids where going out of "production" in late 2004.

And be came a special order, they would make them if you bought 1000 units.

As for spare part you have got that right, they are going away, and fast, you probally can't find viking rams any more, they have all been eatin up put the Evilm's.

eventualy even destructive will realize that parts are gone, and we will see vikings and excal used for parts guns to keep things running.

You may find that some one comes out with a limited run of cartridges for these guns, or people start to get custom parts made.

I am pretty sure that Arron was workiing on a new solenoid convertion before he left. But we will never see that, it left with his head.

as for there regs, and such, eventualy those parts will dry up as well, butwho knows AKA maybe running silent right now because they have a new gun coming out.

This is why we need AKA day in Indiana or Illinois. Arron already said he would be game.

The same thing that kills every electronic gun...

1) Lack or electronic spares
2) Solenoids becoming unavailable.

Yea, contact PaintballIndiana that was one of the old master tech's fields, plus Dan works there and there are always tons of AKA markers there.

I would probaly show up just for the chance to shoot arron again, and it would be cool to see arron and Larry together again

Dan already said he would be in and that we should do it at Paintball Indiana. Only problem is that I really don't want to set this thing up all by myself.

Only on an AKA board can you ask what is gonna kill the markers and get planning for a reunion as a response!

Rams are not gonna be what kills these. I think Larry would do another run if they were truly in demand and he has many of them on the shelves now I believe. Plus any part that needed made he supplied with ease when I did the Valhalla and that was for a mere 30 guns.

So I would say electronics are suspect but there seems to be a glut of pandora boards and Tadao did a big enough run that they have been in stock for how long now?

So lets see if the last run of noids was 1000 in 2004 how many are left?

Hmmm these may live forever after all. Unless paintball changes. . .

Indiana is too far for me but I would love to come.

I think that the problem is not so much the parts but rather NOBODY knows what AKA and Vikings are. If you told most of the young groms on the field these days that AKA revolutionized the PB world, they would brush it off and kind of go 'oh, ok'. We have f***in Smart Parts to thank for that.

This is why I think they just head towards whats new. How can you explain to them that a marker made in 2004 is STILL better than most of the guns out there?? But I will say this... AND PLEASE dont get pissed at me... I really do believe MacDev picked up where AKA left off. We all know that the Cyborg was based off of the Viking but MD is really really dialed in as a company. I shot my Clone GT all last season - FLAWLESS and goddamn is it effortless to shoot.

In any case, the kids dont know and likely dont care because the Vikings are a bit heavier, have hoses and a bit of a taller profile. As for me, Ive got 3 right now and Im always looking for more. LONG LIVE THE VIKING!
