Without the left tube, you would have essentially a Cyborg, true? One of the causes of air efficiency in a Viking or an Excal is the very tight tolerances in manufacture. Tighter tolerances mean less lost air which helps with efficiency.

It would be nice to see a pneumatic trigger on a Merlin extrusion.

The cyborg is based on the merlin extrusion but it isnt much more a viking than any other stacked tube electro pneumatic marker is. The viking and excalibur ram setup is unique and sophisticated..the cyborg is the closest but it still isnt quite what the viking is.

But as far as operation goes, an intimidator, ego, bushmaster, tribal, impulse, cyborg, and more are essentially the "same" but there are alot of other factors.

Tolerances do have alot to do with things once you get to such extreme levels of speed and efficiency, i think.
