Who sells bare HPA tanks? Sometime soon my HPA tank is going to run up against its 15 year lifetime. The regulator is a CFP hyperflow 301, so I definitely want to re-tank it. Problem is, I can't find bare 4500 PSI tanks anywhere. I'm sure I am looking in the wrong place.

I know this is a few months old but, did you ever find one?

Crossfire is pretty much the only place I know of that sells just the cylinders. You MAY be able to contact one of the actual cylinder manufacturers (Luxfer, Gayston, etc.) and see if they'll sell you one.

Hopefully someone still watches this thread. I have a question regarding a 8ci aluminum tank a user is selling. It doesn't have a DOT stamp, it has a European origin and is stamped "tw dcec aa6061".
What difficulties will I have trying to fill and rehydro this tank?

has anyone ever rebuilt their crossfire stealth tank reg? I need the two orings. Anyone have any idea on the specific sizes of them? The guy at flare fittings that I need to talk to is away for the next week and I'd like to get it back together before then.

It's been a while so you may have already got the o-rings you needed but I thought I'd answer anyway in case someone comes across this subject in the future:

Here are the o-rings for the Crossfire SS reg:

Top of bonnet (top of threads - reg to asa) = -015 urethane type
Fill nipple = -006 urethane type
Cylinder to reg = -015 buna type
Larger o-ring on piston in reg = -012 buna type
Smaller 0-ring on piston in reg = 4.5mm inside diameter X 1mm cross section buna type

On a side note, Crossfire recommends using Dow 111 as the lube to use on their regs.

Browsing eBay, I came across a 13/3000 tank with its paint stripped off and the aluminum polished. While it looks cool, I'm wondering if this would cause the tank to be flagged as unsafe at certain fields due to being "tampered with".

Best go to the manufacturer and read their FAQ. Most have them. Generally any process that removes material thickness from the tank renders the tank unsafe and requires it to be condemned. These modifications may also conceal existing tank damage. This is also true on aftermarket acid washed and anodized tanks. The acid wash itself attacks the chemistry and integrity of the tank. This practice is expressly forbidden by an increasing number of manufacturers but I have seen many examples done in this forum. ONLY the tank manufacturer can properly answer questions regarding the safety of any tank modifications and they usually will in a FAQ or to e-mail inquiry.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I'll steer clear of this one.
