I was thinking of mounting a qloader onto my 68 special, maily because I am tired of chops from holdin it just off angle.

Lack of detente has me nervous though, any ideas? Should I just drill and tap for a cocker dentent? or adapt a spyder one on there?

i don't think any 68 specials came with any type of detent from the factory. the detents you find on them now are there so they can shoot the smaller sized paint that is found today.

My 68-Special DEFINETLY came from the factory with a detent, and it was an earlier one.

It uses the "level" style detend which is located in the same spot as all Tippmann detents.

You could try and rig a larger detent, or do the "wire", and use a coat-hanger to keep the paint from rolling into the breech port.

I just looked at the 68 spec manual in vintage rex(not the best quality scan, but) and it shows a "ball latch" right where I'd expect to see the detent.
Like HP said, its the same style they use now. But mine was a little bigger, and its was spring loaded and held in the body with pins.

Unless you've got one of those nifty brass sleeves for the breech, or some other method of covering up the "squeegee access port" in the side, you'll probably just make a blender since the Q-loader will force the balls to bulge out that port and not be aligned in the centre of the breech.

iirc Azzy has an anti-chop sleeve in his 68. (how do I remember this crazy crap )

And C6quad, just settling up from the earlier smg60 correction
I guess between the two of us we might figure out these tippy's yet

The ball latch has a spring try a stronger one, i have never had chop problems. i have had paint blow up because it was it wrong buy the bot because it was under sized.

Now on the the brass sleeve anyone have one out of a gun and willing to measure it. i need to make a few up for the squad in case we can not get big bore paint for the upcoming game in March.
