This old mask.... Any one know what lense will fit these? It is a JT and I hope to use it.. http://img460.imageshack.us/img460/7285/1b12sb0kv.jpg |
JT Eleite (alpha) will work |
Hey Tobin, keep your mouth closed when using that mask. |
Might want to wear a bandanna or something to keep the shell from cutting your face if it makes it in. |
Would not use it. What I would use ( actualy I do Use) is a JT X-Fire ( aka crossfire) mask. Same lense, same general styling, same vintage ( well a little newer) but with todays safety requirements and guess what They still make them.:) Dont use that old whippersnapper on the feild, its just not safe. remember your mask is THE most important peice of equipment you have on the feild. |
/agree with Al on this one .. The plastic frame may or may not retain the lense in case of impact... I miss my whipper too but i wont bet my face on an old mask Regards Eric |
*what follows as my oppinion and may or may not be safe and/or based on reality* I think the frame will do okay so it should be safe for his eyes as long as he gets a new lense. It looks to be the exact same frame as on my x-fire. I also have a friend that has been wearing a set of these since he started playing. If you overlook the lack of cheek or adequate mouth protection, the real problem with these is the lack of EAR protection. I know a guy who was shot in the ear (with an under-velocity PGP) while wearing just a knit ski-mask and a set of JT goggles he had removed from his mask. The pitch of his scream convinced me that ear protection is not optional. So, I would recomend getting the period ear armour upgrade if these will see action. |
i agree with Wild. as long as you get a new lense and protect your ears, you'll be fine. that mask would be great for stock class games. |
Fortunatly, I have the ear pieces for this one. I liked how small and basic it is. Of course this will be good motivation to keep my mouth shut during a game............. Wonder if a cig will fit thru there? or...LOL |
Sell that AGG strap for 50-60 bucks and buy a whole new mask. ;) |
