I've used Hammersnipe for 5 years or so.

I use it for all my bids, and until Ebay goes to a "sealed bid" format for all auctions, I think everyone should use bid snipers.

In short, it saves money by preventing bid wars.
I've never understood why people will say "My auction was stolen by a bid sniper", when the truth is the sniper simply bid higher then you were willing to pay. Plain and simple.

Other auctions use anti-sniper formats where anyone who bids in the last minute automatically extends the length of the auction my 5 minutes. I will never use an auction that has that format. The only purpose of that format is to CREATE bid wars.

If you run *nix flavor or another with java, get the java executable Jbidsniper.

so issue a :

java -jar Jbidsniperxxxx.xx command to run it.

Just checked, Morgan finally got to a WinSLOWS executable and of course OSX is doable.

Just lay off some Palmer gun I want someday! :)

Can you set up the Hammersnipe so it will "one up a bid" in your favor? Example will it bid $1.00 more than the last so you can win the bid.

I've used http://www.auctionsniper.com/ for a few years with good results.
At first I was leary about giving out my ebay user/pass to them but I haven't had any issues & have been using it for a while.
One nice feature is you can select several similar items & have it snipe them one by one until you win one then stop.

I too get annoyed that people up the price significantly sometimes days before the auction ends. They are only making it cost more for themselves because it gives other bidders the time do ruminate & decide the item is worth a bit more. It also makes it easier for shill bidders to bump up the price.

That would totally defeat the purpose of using a bid sniper.

Just set it for the max you are willing to pay. You can link auctions together so if you win one, it will cancel the other snipes.

This is all to prevent bid wars. ANYTIME you have bid up on an auction is a time you have wasted money.

Granted, when I SELL, I always start auctions at 1 CENT to promote bid wars. Yes, that is hypocritical, but I want to save money, and make money at the same time.
