Would this 'noid work?

Well, would this solenoid work to power this internal ram on a 'cocker? I'm trying to build a custom Osiris (as some of you may remember), and will be using those parts if they work. The ram will need to trip the valve as well, and I will mount it using the old IVG. If anyone can spot a problem, let me know!

Nope. The 3-way 'noid and '3-way' on a 'cocker are different. Technically, the 'cocker 3-way is actually a 4-way, which is what you need for a double-acting ram.

That 'noid has an input, output, and exhaust. You'll need two outputs.

Unless you go with a single-acting ram, but you'd need to run the pressure a little higher to overcome the spring, and I'm not sure how consistant the spring would be.

Also, check how you'll be mounting it. If you're mounting the ram externally, get one threaded at the nose. Internally, at the base. Or if it'll be halfway in, whichever works for you, to mak an adapter.

No point on adding extra length and cost in threads you won't use.

Crap. Thanks for that catch, I completely overlooked that. I'm looking for a small, affordable 'noid that will fit in the frame where the sear 'noid used to be. I'm hooking this up to an E1 by the way. I planned on retapping the IVG to make an internal mount.

Edit: How about this one? My concern with these is the wattage. I'm not sure how much the E1's stock board can handle.

I've heard nothing but good on that one, so far. So that should work.

The board should handle anything the 'noid does. Should. Check the manual, if you have it. Otherwise, since you're customizing anyway, you may be able to solder a regulator inline. I'm not an expert on the electronic side.

Well, while it may be a good, I can see trouble mounting it...

What if I were to use the small 3 way with a spring ram? What kind of CPS would I be looking at? Probably a fairly small number...

That smc seliniod is only good if you wanted to make an electro pnue-mag. Not many other uses.

the mac valve your showing is airsoldier replacment for the rainmaker valve. would work on just about anything.

The higher wattage was ment for the rm. Due to the fact that the rm sends full battery voltage to the mac.

I see. Then that is a beast of a 'noid, and would require me to mill the crap out of the frame, or mount it on the front block...

So I'll use it, but I'll need to head back to the drawing board.

It's not the same RM solenoid, but of the same design. It is smaller, and IIRC, the dimensions are on the Tinker's Guild somewhere. Give me a minute and I'll try to track it down.

Even the original RM 'noid slips quite nicely into the top of a new-Shocker frame, so the 'smallest' one Haveblue carries should be nice and little.

Ahem. First-hand info from the Guild, quoted verbatim.
Credit where credit's due.

Info inside--
by Nicad

Pressure rating: Vac to 120psi. Sure as shoot, it starts venting at 125psi.
Looking at the picture on ASP site-
You see port #2 and #4 on the top, with #4 being closest to the noid. These are the output ports.
On the bottom are ports #3 (vent), #1 (input), and #5 (vent), #5 being closest to the noid.
At rest, #2 is connected to #1, and #4 to #5.
Activated, #2 goes to #3, and #4 goes to #1.

Dimensions: 1.77 x 0.637 x 0.325
All 5 ports are threaded M3.
Flying leads are ~18" long.

http://www.macvalves.com/PDFS/33_Series.pdf gives flow ratings and other data for the 3-way version, which should be the same at this 4way in many regards.
Get a little foam or wax block and cut it to those dimensions to test fit. That's a little long, in relation, but it's a nice thin piece.
