| Cobra Paintball Fanatic Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Central Iowa | Thanks, Azzy I just found a place called "Chrome Reflections" here in Des Moines that says they do nickel plating, brass plating, chroming, etc... I guess I mostly wonder if anyone has had similar size work done before and how much it had cost them. Since this is something that I haven't really shopped around for before. |

NY | I was told some time ago that you needed to be careful when plating or powder coating a mag body that you had to watch the distance between body and trigger frame so that it didn't increase so much much that guts no longer worked correctly. I was told with powder coating that the best thing to do was mask the area on the body that the frame adapter fitted to. Hope this helps. E

| MCB Member Join Date: Mar 2006 | The mag design if very sensitive to changes in tollerances, especially with the way the body and valve sit in the rail. As Schmitti indicated with Powder coating you should not apply powder to the top side of the rail, or the bottom of the body. You should be OK with a plating process but it's still sensitive. AGD does not recommend having your X-Valve re-anno'ed for this reason. You might want to throw this question over to AO (ww.automags.org), also, I know Gruntbull has done a lot of ano service on mags. He might be able to answer some of your questions regarding tollerance issues. Good Luck, can't wait to see the finished product. -MR |

| Cobra Paintball Fanatic Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Central Iowa | Just posted on my original rescue thread, I hope to have it completed by the end of March, so yes, it should be done in time for Arturius. Heading to ICU tomorrow to pick up the screws for the grip pannels, and my HPA tank, 72/3000. Unfortunately they are out of stock on the vertical adapter, so I'll have to get one from MCB's BST section. Then I'll stop by Ye Olde Gun Shoppe this weekend and see what 45 grips they have in stock. Essentially I'll be adding about 250-300 dollars worth of parts and labor to rehabilitate an automag that only cost me 50.00 |
