Will piranha frames work with a spyder?

I am looking for a hyperframe for a VLM project and all I can find are piranha frames. Are they close? anybody know?

The spider and Piranha used different styles. I was just informed of this by Railgun.

They are compatible but only with a little bit of work.

The sear and rear hole line up. But the trip catch on the trigger may need a little modifying to let it reset. If it's an electro grip then this may not be an issue. Point is that the sear needs to reach up a hair further on the Spyders due to the slightly smaller diameter hammer.

The front hole also needs to be redone on the frame or body since they don't line up by almost 1/4 inch difference.

And finally to fit a Piranha frame to the Spyder you need to cut away the two locating webs in the trigger frame.

Some work yes. But it can be done.

An Eforce frame won't fit unless you are willing to drill and tap the body. You can't redrill the front screw hole in the frame because the circuit board lives there.

For a few days I had a Piranha mechanical frame mounted on my Spyder Pilot. A screw at the rear and a zip tie at the front. I liked the slightly further foward balance of the whole setup with a small CO2 bottle on it. But the stock setup works nice with a 68/3000 for balance.

If it's older and uses the same size "fatty" striker as the Piranhas it'll be a shoe in. Just need to relocate the front screw threading or drill a new hole in the frame.

YOu'll also notice that the keying used by the Spyders is an oval recess in the body and a matching ovall key in the trough of the upper frame. Obviously there won't be any keying anymore other than the screws. But as long as you're not overly rough with it I doubt that'll be a problem.

Wooooooo.... that's a sexy block of metal you got there. And a metal trigger frame as well? Nice.

You'll have to ovalize the front hole to match to the body threading but one of the larger field strip style screws should cover up the ovaling nicely.
