Eotech 551 fit on a PPS sight rail?

will this sight fit on a standard palmer sight rail?

what are those rails called anyhow?

Anything can fit with the appropriate adapter. I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I'm definitely interested in what you're planning now.

IIRC, PPS rails are standard dovetail sized.

Yeah, I think they're 3/8's... An Eotech would need a 5/8's.

no, it won't fit without an adapter. Burris or B-Square makes a nice low profile adapter. that's what i used to mount an EOTec on my Bushmaster SI.

No.

An Eotech requires picatinny/Weaver rails, as the means of securing them is either a thumbscrew or a pair of quick-release levers, both of which have a bolt that runs perpendicular to the body, and cinches down on the side clamps. Standard dovetails are solid, whereas RIS rails have a series of evenly spaced gaps. As deuce said, there are adapters, but you start adding height with those.

Just out of curiosity, do you have your heart set on EOtech? While they certainly get the job done, those sights are quite large and clunky. A tad expensive too. There's several other red dot sights out there that are lower in profile, and when used with the right rings, should mate up fine with the PPS dovetail.

edit: c6 beat me to it
