Age of a certain Autococker...

I'm trying to figure out when the Autococker body 49558 was made. I'm guessing around 1996 or 1997, but I could be wrong.

Not that old, it should be closer to 98-99......

are you sure it's a 98?
I would say it's a 97. My first one was around 35k and to the best of my research it was from around mid 97.

Anyways, as I said in this thread, I'm guessing that the 49k one is from around 98/99, and likely closer to the 99.

Actualy I screwed up when I said his was older. LOL Ment Later. What I get for typing with a migraine.

I am basing what I was told age wise about mine from the guy who built my sniper. Near as I can recall he had 40 something working cockers and 2 shipping crates full of parts and peices. Guys a Cocker junkie.

Some pics or other specifics might help. From '94-'97, there really wasn't much to differentiate them, but it'd be easy to eliminate it as a '98+ if the lower edges of the body and the leading edge of the sight rail are squared. Serial numbers don't tell much as they weren't necessarily assembled in the order that the bodies were created. Also, some bodies were sold to tuners - for example, Bob Long bought them wholesale and was still using pre-98 bodies in '99 & 2000 (according to unconfirmed reports). It's entirely possible that some of those factory bodies were never used by the tuners and eventually just sold off.

What's going on is that I don't think the seller of this pump is being honest with me in telling me it's a 1993. I'm waiting for a response from WGP on the date. The pic won't help. It's milled to look like a KAPP Autococker. It might have been done by them, but I don't know for sure and can't ask them sincce they're no longer in business.

definatly not a 93. Its a 98 or a 99, I think probably a 99. I can't see the pics while at work, but he's defiantly either lying or misinformed with that serial

wolf13: I think it's too low of a serial number to be a 1999, but not as old as 1996 either.

Hrm...OK, he says it's a '93, but that clearly isn't the case based on the serial # (assuming he's being honest about that part). Even if it was a '93, the fact that it's been milled to look like a KAPP eliminates most, if not all of the perceived value (based on age/rarity). If your concern is CO2-friendliness, chamber volume (which is the primary factor there) was unchanged basically from the first 'Cockers in '91 until the big remodel in 2000, so any from '91 to '99 will be pretty much the same...
