Fabric for noobs?
I'm looking to buy some material from here:
Rockywoods Outdoor Fabrics
I don't really know what all the D's mean, but I've figured out that 1000D is heavy(est?), for making pouches and stuff.
What material would your standard guy relate to for 500D?
How about 50/50 Cotton/Nylon Ripstop?
Just confused on what I need to buy...
Thanks in advance!

D is "Denier". 1000D is typical ballistic Cordura used on high-end tactical vests and MOLLE gear.
DBD pants have 1000D knee pads; the rest of the pant is lighter weight, around 300-350 Denier cordura. I have a 500D sample here; it's pretty tough stuff but I'm not sure what I'd use it for since the 1000D is what you use for pouches, doubled up. (2000D effectively?)
Cotton fades. I don't know how well a 50/50 blend would hold up, though I like it for breathability. I've given up on 100% cotton as it fades badly.
I bought fabric from RockyWoods. Availability is great, service is great but you'll pay a LOT for material through them, at least for MultiCam, double wholesale rate I'd guess.
