| Active Member Join Date: May 2006 | Cutting Automag feedneck Ok, I know there has to be some of you that have cut down the feed neck on your Mags... I have a Right Feed body. LONG feed neck, too long for me. I want to cut it down, but my only real question is...How many have you have done it and were happy with the results? |

| Ultimate Battle Monkey Z | Me. Cut it down with an angle grinder and smoothed out the parts with a dremel and some hand sanding/buffing. Works just fine. Just make sure you leave yourself enough neck. I have seen some bodies with just not quite enough to hold an elbow securely.

| Pumper | I cut mine with a hack saw..... just try and keep it straight when you are cutting. I had to file it a little to level it out. Peace

| MCB Member Join Date: Oct 2006 | Mine came cut down already and it works fine. But to help it out I cut away the elbow in a little semi circle so that the vent hole isn't blocked. It fits tight down but it means I need to use a hose clamp since there's not enough plastic left to trust the usual plastic clamping ears to do the job. I'd mark it well and just cut it with a hacksaw using slow deliberate strokes with firm but not heavy cutting pressure to avoid taking the edge off the teeth.

| MCB Member Join Date: Sep 2006 | I went the pipe cutter route too. I cleaned the rim w/ a sanding stick (flat piece of wood wrapped w/ a high grit sandpaper) and used a fine file for the lip of the ID. If I recall correctly, I cut the height down to match the length of the elbow I had on the AM at the time. ![]() |
