VM-68 Value?

I've never had one of these come across the bench....

15-inch, looks like an SP/AA barrel?
Aluminum Side Plates

It does have a cupseal leak, but at this time I don't have a valve tool.... It does cycle fine, other than that....

LoL.... Who needs a valve tool..... It reminds me of taking apart the rock in the lower tube of a Typhoon.

Removed the valve and lapped the cup seal. No leak now....

I do need to rotate the valve to a smaller port though. It's on the largest one, and doesn't recock reliably.... <sigh, got to take it apart again>

Once I have it cocking reliably, I'll put it up for sale.....

drill out the smallest of the four hole with a drill bit that doesn't touch ether o-ring then.. you can witness the true power of the vm. or brag that you know how to make yourself a Magnaport <---"not sure of spelling" Valve. i see you got out the valve out some how? i'm asuming you got the tool, but let me know if you still need it. i have a few exta. sory about the faces tring them out "who's the new guy?"

As far as value, with the extras, it would probobly sell around $100. The aluminium plates are an oddity though. They were on the non-ambi PMI3s, so hard to imagine how they ended up here.

FOr the leak, just drop oil into the ASA, and most leaks go away. Or, pop out the valve, and sand the valve face smoother.
To get the valve out without the tool, remove the internals, then remove the valve screws, then screw on a tank and the valve will shoot out like a rocket!

All VM-Mags I've seen had the plastic plates, plus thats not a VM-Magnum.

The VM-Mags were all black, with a raised siterail, thumbscrews, and the backbottle used banjos, that ran to a sidetap on the valve.

They might just be one of Chris Maders aftermarket ones?

I don't think so... The left side plate is stamped Benjamin Sheridan, Made in Racine WI..... The right one is not marked.....

So far as I knew, early VM's came through with the aluminum plates. I have a set like you describe also.

Anything is possible, especially if it came from someone who had more then one, and the ability to swap around parts.
Very common occurence when buying old rental guns.
