| MCB Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Tampa, FL | I've recently purchased a SMG-68 (Thanks Jester!) And was wondering before I air it up the first time, will I have any issues using HPA instead of CO2? I prefer to use HPA for several reasons, (cleanliness and availabilty primarily) and I can't think of why this would be a problem but I figured it is best to ask. ![]() Also, since this will be my 1st SMG in 20 plus years does anyone have any hints or tips to help me out? I used to have a SMG-62 but gave it away to a friend in 89, I was tired of the hassle to get paint for it and my Apex (I still own the Apex it is one of the 1st two Airpower ever made, a buddy of mine has the other one) was just too sweet, plus I could reload my stick feeder much quicker, and no worries of losing stripper clips. While I am rambling, I still have a dozen or so .62 stripper clips I rediscovered in my old gear case. If anyone wants 'em drop me a pm I am sure we can work something out.

| Sunstar Paramedics Slave | I'm sure you could find one on here. I'll dig around and see if any of my 7 or 12 ozers have them installed.

Titus, definitely let me know if you have a pre-assembled siphon tank, would prefer that over modding one of my old tanks. I know it can be done quite easily, but for some reason, despite how much I love to fiddle with my guns I have never felt comfortable messing around with CO2 or HPA tanks... Angelpena, If I do end up having to do it myself, I will most assuredly take you up on your offer of tips...

| Active Member Join Date: May 2007 | I thought the valve in that thing was like my .68 special. I used to run mine @ 1200psi out from my AA Raptor Rex with no issue. I mean, I can only shoot maybe 6-7bps on it but I don't have shootdown. Has anyone tried an SMG at a higher tank output pressure? |

| MCB Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Southern Maine | There was some debate if the SMG-68 came with a siphon originally, but I was just reading through the manual at VintageRex, and it says the siphon was an "option" originally. There were also different spring sets for "winter" (5lbs), "summer", (4lbs) and "pre 88" (2.5lbs). So, if you can use a 800psi HPA tank without mod probobly depends on what configuration the SMiG came from the factory with. You might be able to work with the 800psi HPA by shiming the stock spring. Though, if you can get a siphon, that would be the most fun. nick
